Home Health Leaders Urge Collaboration with CMS to Refine Proposed Home Health Groupings Model in HHPPS Proposed Rule
The Partnership for Quality Home Healthcare urged CMS to work collaboratively with the home health provider community to address significant flaws in the Home Health Groupings Model used in last week's proposed payment reform that will cut Medicare home health payments by almost $1 billion.
Amedisys CEO Paul Kusserow challenged the CMS proposed groupings model that would change the unit of payment for home health agencies from a 60-day episode of care to two 30-day episodes of care, which amounts to an estimated $950 million overall payment cut. He echoes other industry groups upset by the proposed rule released last week.
Hospice Notice of Elections can soon be filed electronically, CMS announced last Thursday, in a change to take effect Jan. 1, 2018.
For the fourth straight year, the CMS is proposing to drop reimbursement for home healthcare agencies in the Medicare program, including a $950 million cut for 2019, disclosed last week in the new CMS proposed rule to reform Medicare payments to home health providers.
