Homecare Homebase Provides Fast Access to Tools for Analysis of the FY2016 CMS Hospice Proposed Rule

“We understand that this proposed rule includes some significant new changes for our Hospice customers."

(Dallas, TX) - Homecare Homebase announces a set of dashboards within theirKnowledge LinkTM business intelligence platform made available earlier this month, that allows its Hospice customers to quickly analyze the effects of the FY2016 Hospice proposed rule, which was issued in late April. This tool provides immediate visibility into the impact these changes will have on their business well before they take effect.

CMS updates create a high level of variability each year for hospice agencies, and those changes were further complicated in the FY2016 proposed rule with significant variations to payment rates, wage index values, and a new Service Intensity Add-On (SIA) payment.

“We understand that this proposed rule includes some significant new changes for our Hospice customers. With June 29th as the deadline for submitting comments to CMS, we understand the urgency that our customers have in analyzing the effects of the proposed rule. Our goal with these dashboards is to, as quickly as possible, provide them with a meaningful analysis of these key changes.” said Andy Guarnera, Manager of Knowledge Link Product Management at Homecare Homebase. With CMS projecting an increase of $200M in FY2016 Medicare payments to Hospice agencies as a result of these changes, it is critical that agencies take proactive measures to adjust their business plans to ensure they are maximizing revenue generation.

Homecare Homebase’s Knowledge Link tool, powered by the Tableau analytics platform, allows users to analyze their current and past business, as well as model proposed CMS changes, using actual data from episodes completed in the Homecare Homebase system. This enables agencies to compare and evaluate projected revenues based on their recent Hospice activity, broken down by the new Routine Home Care level-of-care rates, allows for comparison against the new wage index and CBSA delineations, and evaluation of the visits eligible for new the Service Intensity (SIA) Add-On Payment.

"Homecare Homebase delivers tools that not only keep customers ahead of coming regulatory changes, but provide them useful, real-time insight into their business," said Tom Maxwell, Chief Strategy Officer at Homecare Homebase. "Due to our proactive nature and rapid-deployment of analytical tools our customers are quickly able to understand the effects of the final changes using relevant data from their own business. They are empowered to make better business decisions about the future of their agency and their operations in record time.”
